While Shirodhara is carried out for the head, Sarvangadhara covers the whole body except the head. Ksheeradhara is effective in the treatment of hypertension, depression, anxiety, insomnia etc.

A Sravana Ksheeradhra is usually prescribed for diseases caused by disorders of the Pitta. As a first step, a suitable type of oil is applied to the head. At least three attendants, two to pour the fluid and another to refill the vessels, are required.

The treatment is conducted while the patient goes through the standard seven positions. A nozzled pitcher is used for pouring the milk.

Hair Nourishment Treatment

In the Ayurvedic view of the body, your hair health reflects the unique combination of three doshas – Vata, pitta, and Kapha – in your body. Given that we all have each of these three doshas in our system, it is extremely likely that your hair will reflect characteristics of more than one dosha. It is, in fact, highly uncommon to find someone whose hair is exclusively Vata-type, pitta-type or Kapha-type. Here are the typical characteristics of each of these three hair types – you can refer to these and determine which characteristics best match your own hair.

Ayurvedic hair loss solutions with Neelibringadi Keram, Kesini Oil and Virgin coconut oil contain essential nourishing ingredients like Bhringaraja, Brahmi, Amla and Neelini that help provide holistic hair care and act as natural remedies to combat baldness, dandruff, dry hair, split-ends and hair loss.

Takradhara

Takra Dhara is another type of Ayurvedic treatment, which is mostly similar to Shirodhara. Takra means butter milk. The milk is boiled at the first stage and then medicines and then the curd is added, which is kept overnight. It is then churned and Shirodhara is prepared.

During this therapy instead of herbal oil, medicated butter milk is continuously poured to the centre of the forehead. The treatment is very much effective to combat migraines problem and other types of specific pitta disorder.

Takradhara, a sub-division of Shirodhara, where buttermilk is also poured along with the oil. This treatment has many therapeutic effects, especially in the improvement of the patient’s mental health.

Buttermilk has tremendous cooling properties making it the ideal liquid to help relax the mind and reduce mental stress. This treatment is often recommended for those suffering from:

  • Insomnia
  • Skin disorders
  • Stress and nervous tension
  • Digestive issues

Acne(yuvanpindika)

Acne or Pimples are known as Yauvana Pidakas in Ayurveda. Their simple translation reads ‘Yauvana’ means teenage and ‘Pidaka’ means skin eruptions. Yavana pidakas are also called Tarunya pidaka ( skin eruptions seen at a young age), ‘Mukha dooshika’ ( that which disturbs the facial skin). Acne or Pimples are the most common problem faced by most teenagers and some adults too continue to suffer from acne for a longer period.

Alopecia areata(indralupta)

Alopecia Areata is an autoimmune condition in which your body’s immune system attacks its own hair follicles, causing hair loss. The white blood cells in your body that form the immune system, attack the hair follicles, making them abruptly miniaturize. The shrinking of hair follicles prevents nutrition from reaching your hair, thus causing your hair to fall out. According to Ayurvedic texts, an imbalance of Vata Pitta Kapha (tridoshas) and Rakta (blood) leads to Alopecia Areata.

Atropic dermatitis (Vicharchika)

Atopic dermatitis is a chronic condition where the skin is dry, itchy, sometimes reddish, and irritable for a long period of time. The condition can keep flaring up and trigger in the skin. The rash can sometimes inflame and then ooze clear fluid. If the skin is severely dry and cracked, it may also bleed. Vicharchika is a condition that comes under various Kushta Rogas (skin diseases). The predominant dosha involved in this condition is Kapha. Ayurveda assures a complete cure in treating Atopic dermatitis.

Psoriasis (kithibha)

Psoriasis in Ayurveda is a well-known disease as “Kithibha” is an autoimmune ailment that causes plaques, which are itchy or sore patches of thick, red, dry skin. Psoriasis affects any part of the body. Psoriasis results from unbalanced vata and kapha doshas.

Pigmentation (vyanga)

Skin gets its color from a substance called melanin, which is made by skin cells. When those skin cells are damaged

or unhealthy, they can produce too much melanin. The melanin can clump, causing that area to appear darker. Vyanga is one of the Kshudraroga, characterized by the presence of Niruja (painless) and Shavavarna Mandalas (bluish-black patches) on the face. It is one of the most common diseases as regards the face is concerned. On the basis of clinical features, it can be compared with facial melanosis, one of the hyperpigmented disorders. Drugs with Rakta Prasadaka, Twak Prasadaka, and Varnyakara properties are helpful in the management of Vyanga, which pacifies aggregated Doshas and helps in Raktashodhana (blood purification).
